The 5 C's of Spiritual Growth

The "5 C's of Spiritual Growth" serves as Redeemer's core values and is also the pathway to help people grow in their faith. We believe that as people develop and move along as a Christ-follower the "5 C's" will be evident in their lives. We are committed to help and encourage people on their pathway to spiritual growth.

Read more about the 5 C's below.

Building relationships in the community while inviting people into Biblical community.

All followers of Christ are called to be in a Biblical community that encourages one another in faith and growth and helps one another reconcile relationships with God, others and in the world at-large. Also, the Church is to be missional not attractional. We should “go” to where others are in the community (not just expect them to come to us) and invite others into a community of Christ-followers.

Acts 2:42-47; Hebrew 10:24-25

Growing deeper with Jesus through Biblical depth & spiritual habits.

Faith isn’t about simply filling our head with knowledge and accepting a set of ideas but learning to truly enjoy and know God relationally and consistently. This includes developing deeper Biblical understanding and spiritual habits that help us become more attuned to God’s leading.

Acts 1:3, 2:42; John 15:5-8; 2 Tim. 3:16-17

Growing in generosity in our attitudes, service, and resources, especially toward people in need and marginalized groups.

A spiritually mature person will exhibit the fruit of the spirit in action, including a compassionate concern for justice & mercy in the world and a life dedicated to helping others who are in need.

Acts 2:44-45, 4:32-34 5:15-16, 6:1-6; Acts 10; Matt. 9:35-38, 25:34-40; Gal. 5:22-25; Col. 3:12-14

Working with God to contribute our unique abilities to His mission at church, places of work, and in the community.

In the Bible, God gives unique gifts to all of us to use for His mission. When we can integrate our gifts into all areas of life to serve God & others, we truly come alive. Every person who claims to believe in Jesus as Lord has been uniquely called to contribute to God’s plan for the world. The Church is to help activate people in leading with their gifts.

Acts 1:8, 6:3, 13:1-3; 1 Pet. 4:10-11; Romans 12:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-6; 2 Tim. 1:6

Committing to a consistent spiritual mentor & mentoring others toward spiritual maturity.

In an individualized society, it is easy to consider faith a personal thing. However, the life and leadership of Jesus is clear: we cannot grow apart from gathering with others who will challenge us to continue growing in faith. Also, as we grow, we should always be looking to help lead others in the same way. A spiritually mature person is one who helps disciple or coach others in their spiritual growth.
